The Photographic Society of America sponsors a "Youth Showcase" once a year. Students from area high schools are encouraged to participate.

2010 is the second year the St. Louis Camera Club has participated. This year we had 57 entries from 19 students attending 6 high schools. The images shown below are the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places plus 5 Honorable Mentions. Eighteen other images were accepted. In all, 26 images have been sent for the national PSA Youth Showcase contest.  $185 in prize money was awarded to the winning images.

Many of our members have been involved: They include Catherine and Dale DeWitt, Madi Hawn, Skip LaRue, Nancy Parker, and Susan Standish. Madi served as Chairman. Dale and  Nancy were on her committee.

We had 25 guests for the awards presentation. Nancy Parker did the Power Point presentation,  Madi Hawn gave out the awards and Skip LaRue made the certificates.

2010 PSA Youth Showcase Judging Results

Just a note to let you know than the PSA judging has been completed for the 2010 Youth Showcase contest and 6 of our merit award submissions were accepted for the PSA Exhibition in October.  Four of these were ones you selected for SLCC awards plus two others.  Interestingly enough, the same 5 students were accepted but a slightly different mix of images. The images you selected for 1st, 2nd & 3rd ( Amanda Coehoorn, Seth Lewis, Drew Chapman) were all accepted plus Cara Thulon's HM Broken Home image.  In addition, merit award images Le Tour Effile by Sarah Walthers & The Arch by Seth Lewis were also accepted for the exhibition.

There were 619 merit award images submitted and about 150 accepted.  We will beginning notifying the students and teachers this weekend.
