"Impromptu Field Trips"

FIELD TRIP FOR SLCC MEMBERS   "Nature"  and "Color"  interests including snow and ice scenes on rocky streams, and snow covered country barns.   Skip LaRue and Tim Stout have teamed up to host a winter snow and ice field trip as a somewhat "impromptu"  event because we need a wet snow and several days of heavy freezing weather to get the picturesque scenes we wish to provide for club members.  So...this weekend (January 14 & 15) is out because the snow/ice is not appropriate enough.   We will send a "night before" email through our Web Master for a Saturday or Sunday when conditions are best.

The field trip meeting location will be at the Daniel Boone Home parking lot (google for info) which is opened around 7:30 am (meeting time may be later and is to be determined depending on conditions) and is located on the left side of highway F about five miles from highway 94 going west.

The photography location will be another two to three miles down F and then turn left onto Femme Osage Creek Rd.  There is a small parking area right after crossing a small bridge.  But there will also be other areas to photograph further down Femme Osage Creek Rd. heading into the little town of Femme Osage which has an old church (we can park in its parking lot) and an old stone school house with a creek next to it which also might offer photographic opportunities.   Then Skip knows good places for lunch and/or dinner in Augusta ...and Washington....he mentioned home made pies....and he reminds us of the wonderful beverages in the area... Skip is planning to bring a few representative photos of his efforts in the area to show us at the meeting next Wed.  He also said that one might want to go back to certain areas for the "late light" photography when the afternoon light gives off that warm glow.

Please save this and/or print it out and post it so you will be prepared for the "impromptu" (necessary because the whole thing is based on the right weather conditions) email notice as to when and what time.  You will be able to find the above roads on Yahoo! Maps so you can find the route ahead of time.   I have my boots ready...how about you?!
