Garden of the Gods sits at the south end of the the Greater Shawnee Hills Natural Region and has some of the best unusual rock formations in Illinois.

Rocks carved and formed by fast flowing waters, the patterns seem endless.

From photographying rock patterns or summer thunder.

Needless to say, the area is very popular and can become crowded, as can be attested to the large parking lot that leads to the site.

Crowds can be quite large and unless you want people in scenery photos, it is best during the week or after the summer season to visit.
